Welcome to Saint Mary of the Assumption
a culturally rich and diverse Catholic family; through our worship, educational, youth and outreach ministries, we endeavor to welcome, to love, to evangelize and to serve, making Jesus Christ present in Word & sacrament.
At the Masses on the weekend of September 8th and 9th, Fr. Peter presented an idea for a proposal of a new Catholic school that would be affiliated with Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish. Recognizing the long and valued history of Catholic education in Milford, he had been asked by diocesan officials to consider the possiblity of initiating another venture for a Catholic school. Recognizing the sacrifices of many through the years and the hard decision to close Milford Catholic Elementary School in June of 2017, he states that he wants to make this a new beginning. His proposal is a new name, a new location, a new mission and a new identity for a new vision for the 21st century.
Whether this project goes forward or not depends upon the interest and energy of the parish. To that end, he distributed a survey at the Masses, with the request that it be returned by the end of the month. Copies of his letter and the survey were distributed in three languages which will form the centerpiece of the new school, if it comes to be: English, Portuguese and Spanish. Copies of the letter and the survey are available here with links to the left. Anyone who might have an interest in the school, not necessarily a parishioner, or even a Catholic, but who might have children, grandchildren, relatives, neighbors or friends who would be interested in a Catholic school are asked to complete a form and return it to the parish office so that we can evaluate the data and mae a presentation to the docesewho will present the results to Bishop McManus for his decision.
Information in the future will be available through our parish bulletin and this website. Please stay tuned, and in the meantime, pass the word to anyone who might be interested and supportive.
