Welcome to Saint Mary of the Assumption
a culturally rich and diverse Catholic family; through our worship, educational, youth and outreach ministries, we endeavor to welcome, to love, to evangelize and to serve, making Jesus Christ present in Word & sacrament.
Hand knit Prayer Shawls are available for parishioners who are sick, homebound, in a nursing home, have suffered a loss, or in need of God's loving embrace. We have many colors and patterns, appropriate for men, women and children if interested. Each shawl is knit with prayer to surround and embrace the person who receives it with God's love. Every shawl is offered only after it has been blessed by one of our priests.
Call the Parish Office at 508-473-2000 if you or a loved one could benefit from this special blessing. There is no charge, we are blessed to offer our prayers and this expression of comfort for those in need of the Lord's healing.
Saint Mary's Parish "Hands to Work" knitting ministry creates hats for the babies at Problem Pregnancy in Worcester, as well as prayer shawls for our parishioners. They meet as a group on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month in the Parish Center (17 Winter St.) from 10:00 to 11:30 AM.
Some members are unable to attend meetings, but help the ministry by knitting at home.
