Welcome to Saint Mary of the Assumption
a culturally rich and diverse Catholic family; through our worship, educational, youth and outreach ministries, we endeavor to welcome, to love, to evangelize and to serve, making Jesus Christ present in Word & sacrament.
For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards.
Members of the Eastern Catholic Churches are to observe the particular law of their own sui iuris Church.
If possible, the fast on Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil (on Holy Saturday night) as the "paschal fast" to honor the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus, and to prepare ourselves to share more fully and to celebrate more readily his Resurrection.
As we began Lent, we will enter Holy Week, joining with our brothers and sisters from Trinity Episcopal with whom we share at Covenant. Before weekend Masses, we will gather for the proclamation of the gospel of the Lord's entrance into the holy city followed by the blessing of palms. The service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, March 27th at a place to be determined. Please check back here to know where this service will take place.
Our Masses for the weekend will follow our usual Sunday schedule. However, concern for the protocol of social distancing requires advance registration to ensure that we have adequate space for everyone. We will assign seats so that we can make the maximum use of our space to accommodate the largest number of worshippers. Please realize that if you do not register, and all seats are reserved, you will not be admitted to the service. If you register, please remember to arrive before the scheduled start of Mass since the doors may need to be locked and late arrivals will not be admitted either. This is to provide for the safety and health of all who are part of the service. Your cooperation is appreciate. Use this link to sign up for Masses for Palm Sunday only.
